ISLAMABAD: Peanuts, the most favorites and affordable dried fruit is in high demand with the dropping mercury as shopkeepers and vendors are getting good business from it in twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
There is no specific age group of peanut lovers and everyone including children, youngsters, middle aged or older people cannot stop their hands until they finished the peanuts serving placed in front of them.
Peanuts are not only delicious in taste but their reasonable prices made it in accessible for people as its rates vary from Rs. 180 to Rs. 200 per kilogram in market.
It is a good source of good cholesterol, rich in monounsaturated fats. In addition to that peanuts feature an array of other nutrients that promote heart health.
They are also good sources of vitamin E, niacin, folate, protein and manganese. Moreover, not only do peanuts contain oleic acid, the healthful fat found in olive oil, but these tasty legumes are also as rich in antioxidants as many fruits.
Asad Ali, a student of class tenth who was buying peanuts at Aapbara market said, “When my friends and I do combine study, we include a half an hour break for peanuts in our timetable to keep our mind relax after a session of serious and intense study.
Zahid Khan, a dry fruit seller at Karachi Company said, throughout winter season, peanuts are in high demand and he earns daily Rs 800to Rs 1000 profits only from it as other dry fruits are out of range from common man.
He said it is a good source of munching at homes sitting in front of tv, heaters or stoves.
