KARACHI: Sindh government has constituted an inquiry committee to ascertain facts behind Karachi Timber Market inferno and also the estimated loss.
Sindh Minister for Information, Archives and Local Government, Sharjeel Inam Memon addressing a press conference here on Sunday said provincial government is committed to compensate for the loss and also to find out the exact cause.
“This is important so as not to allow repetition of any such incident,” he said.
The Minister said the committee comprising Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui and KMC Administrator, Rauf Akhter Farooqui will present a detailed investigation and associated loss report to the government in a week’s time.
Taking exception to comments made by party leaders of MQM, he said provincial government had immediately responded to the untoward incident reported last night.
“There was absolutely no negligence on our part and whole machinery was engaged to extinguish fire in timber market,” said Sharjeel Memon.
