PESHAWAR: The staff members of the Provincial Election Commission (PEC) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and those associated with Fata have moved Peshawar High Court (PHC) for restoration of their allowances including 20 percent election allowance.
A Spokesman for PEC in a statement on Monday said that the employees have filed a writ petition for the revival of the 20 percent election allowance which was incorporated into the salary in March 2013. The ECP had withdraw the said allowance without any cogent reason, he added.
Counsel for 440 petitioners Qazi Jawad and Ihsanullah in their petition stated that the decision to abolish the 20 percent allowance was not based on justice and sought relief from the court to this effect.
The employees of the FBR, AGPR, Judiciary and some others institutions of the federal government were drawing the same allowance, the spokesman added.
