MIRPUR: A Two-day Intra Kashmir Conference of Kashmiri Women began to discuss the women issues at both sides of the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir to ensure the vibrant role of Kashmiri women in early settlement of delayed Kashmir issue.
The Intra-Kashmir Women Dialogue is organised by the NGO AJK Women for Peace Organization (AJKWFPO).
Former Chief Justice of AJK High Court, Justice (Retd) Abdul Majeed Mallick was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the conference whereas Dr. Attiya Innayat Ullah, Former Federal Minister, and Patron in Chief of AJK WFPO was also in the chair.
“The Main focus of the two-day summit is “Addressing Women Issues in Divided Societies”, Secretary Information AJK WFPO Dr. Mrs. Zahida Qasim elaborated in her welcome address while highlighting the salient features of the summit which will continue till Sunday.
The inaugural session was also addressed among others by the chair Dr. Mrs. Attiya Innayat Ullah, ex Federal Minister and the Patron in chief of AJK WFPO and Dr. Almut Besold, Resident Representative in Pakistan of the International NGO Fur Die Freiheit, Chief Executive Officer and Sr. Vice President AJK WFPO Dr. N. Seema Jogezai, Mrs. Najma Khan, Prof. Pervein Munir Chaudhry, Mrs. Midhat Shehzad, Dr. Nargis Iftikhar, Mrs. Aisha Mallick, Ms. Amna Shaukat Mallick and others.
While inaugurating the conference, chief guest, Ex Chief Justice of AJK High Court Justice (Retd) Abdul Majeed Mallick appreciated the role played by the organizers of the conference at a right occasion in Mirpur city of AJK.
Justice (Retd) Mallick highlighted the main causes resulted in failure of attainment of the kashmiris’ legitimate right of self determination vested in the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
He emphasized that the people of Jammu & Kashmir were involved in the struggle for freedom and all efforts were mare to achieve the cherished goal of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
Justice (Retd) Mallick, who also heads the Jammu & Kashmir Liberation League said that it was wrong to de-name the freedom movement as a territorial dispute or conflict between India and Pakistan.
Whereas it was primarily freedom movement of the people of Jammu & Kashmir state, he declared.
Justice (Retd) Majeed Mallick said that since the Simla Accord, Pakistan evaded to invoke the United Nations Security Council to invited its attention to the Indian hostile attitude to initiate dialogue to resolve the issue of Kashmir.
The Kashmiri leader emphatically proposed that Pakistan should no more wait for new initiative on the bilateral dialogue and instead it should invoke the Security Council to ensure the implementation of its (UN SC) resolutions by holding early plebiscite in the Jammu & Kashmir State.
“In case of disability of Pakistan, he proposed that the people of Jammu & Kashmir may be allowed to approach the Security Council or International Court of Justice to raise the issue of the Kashmir Freedom Movement to end the Indian aggression and forcible occupation of the State by the complete withdrawal of its (Indian) forces from the occupied State”, Justice (Retd) Mallick urged.
Justice (Retd) Mallick underline that in case people of Jammu & Kashmir are facilitated and provided an opportunity to play their role in the region, they can prove to be a best force to achieve not only the peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue but they could perform effectively to restore and improve good neighborly relations between India and Pakistan, he stressed.
The seasoned Kashmiri leader assured complete unity and harmony in the file and rank of the people in all parts of the Jammu & Kashmir State to pursue the sacred objective to achieve the right of self determination and freedom.
He further hoped that the conference would be a unique effort to enlarge the Kashmiri women involvement in the peace process through exchange of views and increased understanding of women specific issues, in seeking sustainable and equitable solutions for harmony and peace to prevail across the whole of this region.
