ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Commerce Engineer Khurram Dastagir on Thursday underlined the need for giving exemplary punishment to those found involved in killings of political workers in Karachi.
“There should be stern action against whosoever is involved in killings of political workers in Karachi without any discrimination,” he said while talking to a news channel.
He said restoration of peace in the metropolis was responsibility of the provincial government and the federal government would provide all possible assistance in this regard.
The Minister highlighted importance of peace and improved law and order in Karachi saying that establishing peace there was essential for economic growth as the city was hub of economic activities in the country.
He said the ongoing Karachi operation should be carried out without any discrimination and if any political party was found involved in criminal activities, action should be taken against it.
Replying to a question, he said different ‘mafias’ were operating in Karachi so the government should evolve an effective policy to crush them.
The minister said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was going to visit Karachi to review the prevailing law and order situation there.
