KARACHI: Pakistan’s Cricket World Cup (CWC) squad will be named on Wednesday as selectors have completed consultations with chief coach Waqar Younis and captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
Waqar and Misbah have lengthy discussions with chief selector Moin Khan and co-selectors Shoaib Muhammad, Salim Yousuf, Muhammad Akram, Ijaz Ahmed and Wajahatullah Wasti to discuss and finalize the 15-member Pakistan squad.
“Yes we have completed our discussions with Waqar Younis and Misbah-ul-Haq and team will be named on Wednesday,” Moin Khan told reporters here at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
Waqar and Misbah have a meeting with the chief selector Moin Khan at the breakfast.
Later they came to National Stadium and had over two hours’ discussions with selection committee.
According to inside reports former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik and wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal and Asad Shafiq are not in contention for the spot in the squad.
There was difference of opinion about the selection of Nasir Jamshed as third opener and there was consideration that keeper Sarfraz Ahmed may be used as third opener.
Selectors to submit the final squad to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Muhammad Khan for final approval after which it will be announced.

Ahmed Shahzad, Muhammad Hafeez, Nasir Jamshed, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul- Haq (Captain), Harris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Sohaib Maqsood, Sarfraz Ahmed (wicketkeeper), Shahid Afridi, Bilawal Bhatti, Anwar Ali, Muhammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Wahab Riaz, Ehsan Adil, Raza Hasan and Yasir Shah.
