LOS ANGELES: Former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, the husband of US women’s soccer star Hope Solo, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving, police said Tuesday.
Police in Manhattan Beach, California said the 35-year-old Stevens was arrested in the early hours Monday after he was pulled over for driving without his headlights on.
Stevens was released with a citation ordering him to appear in court on March 19.
Solo, a standout goalkeeper for the world number one US women’s national team and an Olympic gold medalist in 2008 and 2012, was in the car with Stevens at the time.
The website TMZ reported that the 33-year-old player used her cell phone to record the arrest and was belligerent with officers.
The incident comes just a week after Solo had charges of domestic violence against her dismissed in a suburban Seattle court.
She had faced assault charges based on allegations that she hit her half-sister and 17-year-old nephew at a family gathering at Solo’s home.
The charges were dismissed after the alleged victims failed to appear for an interview with Solo’s lawyer.
Solo maintained she acted in self-defense.
In November 2012, Stevens was arrested for allegedly assaulting Solo prior to their wedding, but no charges were filed.
