LAHORE: District administration and Lahore Transport Company (LTC) during a crackdown against transporters involved in overcharging impounded 51 vehicles on Tuesday.
Special teams of the LTC and district administration conducted raids and checked fare schedule of 4225 vehicles across the city.
As many as 126 vehicles were found involved in overcharging, upon which 82 were challenged.
Route permits of two vehicles were also suspended on the spot.
Special squads also lodged 10 FIRs against the violators of law and two persons were got arrested.
Reimbursement of Rs 16740 was made to the passengers after getting back money from the transporters.
Transporters have been directed to display flexes of new fare at all bus stands and strict action is being initiated against overcharging
DCO Capt. (R) Muhammad Usman said that checking squads should discharge their duties efficiently.
