UNITED NATIONS: The outgoing Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Masood Khan, paid a farewell call on UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon at his office, on Friday.
The meeting was “positive and constructive”, Masood Khan told APP afterwards.
He said the UN chief thanked Pakistan for its consistent support to the United Nations and to himself.
In this connection, he recalled his trip to Pakistan last year.
Masood Khan was accompanied by his wife at the meeting. Mrs. Ban was also present.
At the farewell reception hosted by Masood Khan on January 20, Ban Ki moon said of the Pakistani envoy, “You have been a driving force on issues ranging from climate change to sustainable development to peacekeeping.
Under your leadership, Pakistan played a strong role in the Security Council, including on promoting Security Council reform and paving the way to a landmark resolution on peacekeeping operations.”
Masood Khan will be leaving for Islamabad on Saturday after two years service as ambassador to the UN. He will be replaced by Ms. Maleeha Lodhi.
