KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has directed the education department to identify bogus and fake recruitment made on district level during the on-going tenure of the PPP government.
“This would be easy to trace out if you go through the payroll made by A.G. Sindh,” he said while presiding a meeting of education department in which development, non-development and foreign funded projects were reviewed.
The meeting held at CM House was attended by Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Minister for Finance Syed Murad Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to CM Alamudin Bullo, Additional Chief
Secretary (Development) Waseem Ahmed, Secretary Education Fazal Pechuho, Secretary W&IS Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Secretary Finance Sohail Rajput and other senior officers.
The Chief Minister during the presentation pointed out that he had reports that some of the education department officers on district level were involved in fake and bogus recruitment.
Secretary Education Fazal Pechuho confirming the same said some district officers of education department in connivance with other officials of this department were involved in the racket.
“They created fake IDs to make bogus appointments and some of these cases have been unearthed with solid evidences,” he said.
On this the Chief Minister said he had imposed ban on recruitment since assuming responsibility in his capacity in June 2013.
This ban was lifted about six months ago but no appointments have been made so far and by getting a payroll copy for year 2013 from the AG Sindh office and comparing it with the payrolls of 2014 and 2015 the surplus staff or the bogus appointments could be easily traced, said Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
“The exercise would help take action against the involved officers and this must not be less than dismissal from services,” he said.
The Chief Minister also directed Secretary Finance to hold a meeting with AG Sindh and get the copies of payroll for the Secretary Education enabling inception of an inquiry within three days.
