KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan Thursday said the government was keen to implement the job quota for people with disabilities.
Talking to a delegation of disabled people, accompanied by MNA Kishwar Zehra and MPA Naila Muneer, here at the Governor House, he said equal attention was being paid to ensure that private sector might also allocate special quota for people with physical incapacities.
The Governor assured the members of the delegation of his total support for their cause with the resolve that majority of them with one or the other form of disability had all capacities to lead a fulfilling and independent life.
Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said that he, however, also seriously felt that growing incidence of genetic disorders among the local population needed to be addressed on scientific lines with equal attention towards prevention.
MNA Kishwar Zehra on the occasion told the Sindh Governor that handicapped people were largely ignored by the society and were deprived of their due rights.
She said the two percent job quota allocated in government departments and public sector institutions by a former president was not being implemented in letter and spirit.
The MNA said all sections of society have to play their respective role to help people with disabilities lead a dignified life.
