KARACHI: Miscreants hurled a hand grenade on Tuesday morning around 6:45 a.m at a school located in block 7, Gulshan-e-Iqbal partially damaging the boundary wall of the school with no human injury or any other sort of major material loss.
Private guard hired by the prestigious school and people present around at the time of incident said motor cyclists wearing helmets threw the explosive material and that a letter seeking closure of the institution was also found near the entrance gate of the targeted school.
District administration alongwith Police and Rangers’ officials immediately reached the site.
DIG Police, Karachi East, Munir A Shaikh on the occasion said the explosion occurred on a road located between two branches of the same private school and fortunately no loss was registered while exact situation could be ascertained on the basis of nearby installed CCTV recording.
The school that starts at eight in the morning witnessed routine arrival of the students reaching by school vans and also in their private cars as they or their parents had little idea of the situation, however, parents panicked after knowing the incident soon reached to take back home their children.
This was despite an assurance by the school administration as well as authorities that situation was absolutely under control.
Fear also engulfed parents of children visiting around 20 to 25 schools located in the vicinity.
