MULTAN: A division bench of Lahore High Court Multan Bench on Tuesday rejected appeals of two convicts involved in the blast incident at Darbar Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar, Dera Ghazi Khab in which 54 persons were killed in 2011.
The court upheld the decision of the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) DG Khan in its short order announced today evening.
The appellants Behram Khan alias Sufi Baba and Omar Fidai had filed separate appeals to challenge the decision of the ATC.
The trial court had awarded death sentence on 105 counts to Behram Khan besides, life imprisonment on three counts, 10 year jail on 73 counts.
The court had also imposed Rs 129.6 million as fine on him.
Accused Omar Fidai was awarded life imprisonment on 106 counts, and imposed Rs 129.6 million fines on him.
According to the prosecution, four accused had tried to enter in Darbar Hazrat Sakhi Sarwar on Apr 3, 2011 and the blast occurred soon after security personnel asked them to wait in queue.
After 20 minutes, another blast occurred at back of the mausoleum and police found a suicide bomber there in injured condition. The incident had left 54 Zaireen dead and another 73 injured.
