LAHORE: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said on Saturday that his respectable office does not allow him to be partial and make political statements.
Talking to media after appearing before the election tribunal in Imran Khan versus Ayaz Sadiq case, the Speaker said that he was put on media trial for about 128 days but he maintained his impartiality according to the requirement of his office.
He said that he had filed his petition in the court of Allah Almighty against Imran Khan because Allah always do the justice to him.
He said that he did not want to make comments on the facts of the case, because the case was subjudice. He said that neither he or nor Imran Khan were the Judge of this case.
He said that judge is Justice (R) Kazim Ali Malik and he would decide this election petition in light of the facts and law.
He said that in 1964, he and Imran Khan used to play hockey. Once his hockey stick injured Imran Khan and perhaps Imran wanted to take revenge of that incident after 50 years, he said in lighter vein added.
He hoped that he would continue as a Speaker till 2018.
The Speaker also thanked the people of NA-122 who elected him thrice for National Assembly.
