PESHAWAR: The third phase of filing of appeals against rejection of nomination papers for Senate Election 2015 completed here Tuesday as not a single candidate filed appeal against rejection of their nomination papers with Provincial Election Commissioner, (PEC) Khyber Pakthunkhwa.
According to PEC, no candidate has filed appeal against rejection of their nomination papers till 4pm with PEC who is the Returning Officer for Senate Elections 2015 as today was the last day of filing of appeals.
As many as 34 candidates are left to contest for 12 seats of Khyber Pakthunkhwa while 20 would try for four general seats of Fata on March 5 Senate Elections 2015.
The nomination papers of three candidates including Muhammad Daud Barkai for general seat, Adnan Khan for Technocrat seat and Ravi Kumar for minority seat were rejected on technical grounds.
None of the above candidates have filed appeals with Returning Officer against rejection of their papers during last two days.
As many as 16 candidates are in run for general seats, eight for technocrat, seven for women reserved seats and three non muslims seats from KP.
On seven general seats, Waqar Ahmed Khan (Independent), Ammar Ahmed (Independent), Attaur Rehman (JUI-F), Haji Muhammad Adeel (ANP), Siraj ul Haq (JI), Muhammad Ibrahim Khan (JI), Tehmas Khan (Independent) Lt Gen (retd) Syed Salahuddin Tirmizi (PMLN), Abdul Malik QWP, Mohsin Aziz (PTI), Manzoor Khan (JUI-F), Liaqat Khan Tarkai (Independent), Khanzada Khan (PPPP), Noor Alam Khan (PPPP), Fazal Muhammad Khan (PTI), Syed Shibli Faraz (PTI) and Salman Hamid Afridi (PTI) would contest.
For two women seats, Fauzia Fakharuz Zaman Khan (Independent), Sitara Ayaz (ANP), Bibi Shafia JUI-F, Samina Abid PTI, Rabia Basri PTI, Shahzia Tehmas Khan Indepdendent and Shaheen PMLN would contest.
For two seats for technocrats including Ulema, Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh JUI(F), Abdul Latif Yousaf Zai PTI Abdul Malik QWP, Afrasiab Khattak ANP, Muhammad Hamayun Khan PPPP, Nauman Wazir PTI, Syed Shibli Faraz PTI and Muhammad Javed Abbasi PML(N) are in the run.
On one seat reserved for non Muslims, three contestants included James Iqbal JUI-F, Brig (Retd) John Kenneth Walliams PTI and Amar Jeet ANP would try their luck.
The candidates can withdraw their papers by February 28 and the final list of candidates would be issued on the same day.
The polling would be held on March 5.
