KARACHI: PPP parliamentarians have taken strong exception to the propaganda campaign launched against Pakistan by the Indian media while ignoring poor human rights records as well as rampant poverty and hunger in their own country.
MNAs Shagufta Jumani, Dr Nafeesa Shah and Shazia Atta Marri in a joint statement Friday condemning Indian propaganda campaign against Pakistan, termed it a conspiracy against tranquility in the region.
They questioned as how come the Indian media could deliberately overlook atrocities committed against the minorities by extremist groups with tacit support of those in power.
Citing the recent Indian media claim a big joke, that India, China and Russia may jointly table a resolution about terrorism in Pakistan, the PPP parliamentarians said there should be no doubt that India was involved in terrorism on Pakistani soil.
“This is well known to the world in general while China and Russia are equally conscious of the fact that Pakistan was passing through difficult times as is itself badly hit by terrorism,” said the PPP parliamentarians.
With regard to US President Barrack Obama’s visit to India, they said it was part of an exercise under which US was striving to explore and gain access to new markets.
India is apparently considered to be the best choice to help US economy get stable while India was in haste to offer it as the sheer scapegoat, said the three senior political activists and parliamentarians.
They maintained that the US President’s visit to India was also aimed at bringing India into a loop to use her for checking the fast track expansion of China as a strong, vibrant and multi faceted economy in the world.
“Henceforth, the Indian government had immediately sent her Minister for foreign affairs to China to dissipate doubts,” they said.
The PPP MNAs said it looked as if the Indian media while setting aside the demands of the Indian people for better means of living and sources for the bread and butter would now advise the millions of poor and starving Indians to eat arms and missiles instead of bread and butter.
It regretted that media in India was indifferent towards the misery of a significant number of its starving people and those suffering internal turmoil while supporting the government that holds hegemonistic ambitions.
