PESHAWAR: Rehman Medical Institute National Women Squash Championship will be played at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex from March 3, former World Champion and Vice President Pakistan Squash Federation Qamar Zaman said this while addressing a press conference here on Wednesday.
Flanked by Secretary KP Squash Association Ihsan Ullah Khan, Qamar Zaman said that they have organized 21 tournaments including four women events last year and similarly they have planned 24 tournaments during 2015.
He said so far they have organized two tournaments comprising recently concluded Taj Mir Shah Memorial Junior Under-11, Girls Junior and Under-19 Boys events where in players from all across the country turned up.
He said NBP National Junior Squash Championship.
He said KP Boys Junior Squash Championship would be organized on February 24 while Inter-Region Boys and Girls Tournament would be organized from February 16.
He said from March 24 Inter-District Junior Boys and Girls Squash Championships would be organized, followed by ICMS National Senior Squash Championship from April 1, Inter-District Girls Squash Championship would be organized from April 22 while from May 26 KP Boys and Girls Inter-School Squash Championships would be played, followed by All-Pakistan Junior Squash Champion in June this year and KP Junior Squash Championship in July this year. The next six months calendar of the events would be announced on July 4.
He said despite no funds, the association is holding its activities on regular basis.
He also thanked NBP, Mashriq Group of Newspapers, RMI, ICMS for extending helping hand to the association in sponsoring squash.
Qamar Zaman also demanded of the government to immediate release of association funds otherwise they would start a protest demonstrations alongside the players against provincial government.
Qamar Zaman disclosed that he had a meeting with the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Amjad Khan Afridi to take immediate steps in releasing the association grant stopped from the last three years without any solid reason but so far no heat was paid to our request.
