KARACHI: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Monday said that the government had no option but to win the war against terrorism and scourge would be eliminated from every nook and cranny of the country.
The Prime Minister said this in his opening remarks while chairing a meeting of the Apex Committee held at Governor House here to review the progress on the implementation of National Action Plan and discuss matters related to overall law and order situation in the province.
He said following the Peshawar tragedy, the National Action Plan was approved by the entire political leadership and the ultimate decision of the state was to eliminate terrorism from the country.
He said two of the 20 points of the NAP were implemented immediately while rests of the measures were left up to the Apex Committees formed in all provinces.
He said some of the provinces were taking swift action to implement the NAP while a lot of work is yet to be done by other provinces.
Sharif said under NAP, 21st constitutional amendment was passed and Army Act was also amended adding the country’s future and the security were linked to NAP’s implementation.
The whole nation is eyeing the tangible results of the NAP, he added.
Nawaz Sharif reiterated that terrorism would be eliminated from every nook and cranny of the country besides tribal areas.
He said the meeting should be briefed about all the problems being faced by the law enforcement agencies to help find their solutions.
The Prime Minister said the incident of blaze at Baldia Town factory was grave. The Chief Secretary would also brief the committee about the incident, he added.
Former President Asif Ali Zardari, Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief of Army Staff General Reheel Sharif, Sharjeel Memon, Murad Ali Shah, Home Secretary Sindh, Secretary Interior and IG Sindh were also present in the meeting among other senior officers.
