ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmed Tuesday informed the Senate that 154340 internally displaced families of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) due to militancy would go back to their homes during the year.
Replying to a question in the Upper House, the minister said 43800 families hail from North Waziristan, 11500 families from South Waziristan and 1950 from Orakzai, Khyber and Kurram.
Sheikh Aftab said Rs 25000 would be given to each family for initial settlement in their respective areas and Rs 10,000 would also be given for traveling at the time of their departure.
The minister said a total 464689 families were registered with National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) have been dislocated from FATA due to militancy.
He said FATA Development Authority is currently running five skills development projects for youth of these areas. The programmes include FATA Youth Skills Development Programme-Institution Based and Field Internship, Skilling FATA through Joint Venture, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Training Programme and Establishment of Women Skills Development Centers in Northern, Central and Southern FATA, he stated.
