KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that the government will continue give full support to the womenfolk to help them actively participate in the country’s development.
He was addressing the 7th LADIESFUND Women’s Awards for Pakistan 2015 ceremony held at the Governor House on Saturday in connection with International Women’s Day.
The Governor said that women play a vital role in the development of any country, as they not only support their families but also play their part in community development.
Dr. Ishratul Ebad said medium and small-scale institutions are most suitable for women, where they can easily demonstrate their abilities, adding that such organisations should provide maximum opportunities to women.
He noted that women have carved a niche in recent years in trade and cottage industry. He said the government has taken steps in both rural and urban areas for the socio-economic development of women.
The Governor said the provincial government has established a separate department for women development to focus on women issues.
He said the governemnt is striving to get due and respectable position to women in the society.
Dr. Ishratul Ebad appreciated women for giving their input for the economic development.
The Governor presented awards to the women who performed with distinction in different fields of life.
