ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Pervez Rashid has said that the government is undertaking policy, legislative and administrative reforms to protect and promote women rights in the country.
The minister, in a message on the occasion of International Women’s Day, said it was a matter of immense pleasure for him to note that Pakistani nation was commemorating the International Women’s Day on March 8, with the international community.
He said,”Islam enjoins upon us the sacred task of respect, care and protection of women. In the light of Islamic teachings, we are committed to provide a congenial environment to our women where they can live with dignity. The government has undertaken various measures to support them.”
The minister said despite the fact that Pakistan was facing many challenges, a number of steps had been undertaken by the present government for the wellbeing of women which demonstrated its strong political will and commitment towards women empowerment.
“We are undertaking policy, legislative and administrative reforms to protect and promote women rights in the country.
There is, however, a realization that all the stakeholders must put their sincere efforts towards making the society tolerant and ensuring wellbeing and empowerment of women,” he added.
Pervez Rashid said,”This is our national duty to protect the interests of our women and provide them equal opportunities without any discrimination.
“I hope that the relevant UN agencies, corporate sector, civil society organizations and media will play proactive role in supplementing government’s efforts to create an enabling environment for women.”
He prayed for Allah’s blessings on us in this noble cause.
