MULTAN: Four people, including three boys, were injured in a grenade blast in Sameejabad area here on Wednesday.
Waqas (12), Hamza (11), Rab Nawaz (15) and Omar (24) were injured and they were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital, police said.
DSP Maqbool Jatt confirmed that four people were injured and four sheep were killed.
RPO Amjad Javed Salimee told newsmen at the Nishtar Hospital that the boys had found the grenade from Naubahar canal and brought it with them taking it as a toy.
The grenade suddenly exploded, resulting in injuries to them, he added.
He said according to an injured boy there were two hand grenades in the Naubahar canal and another boy took the second one somewhere.
District Officer Civil Defence Rana Abdul Waheed and BDS commander Iqbal told APP that a hand grenade had been recovered from the house of a boy but no detonator was found.
The blast left an eight inch wide and two inch deep ditch where they found a safety pin and safety lever of the detonated hand grenade. Moreover, six detonating assemblies or fuse were also found, some from area at some distance from the blast site and some from Naubahar canal besides an empty black bag and cover of a pistol or revolver.
