KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket World Cup campaign comes to an end at the quarter final stage, Well played team Pakistan!!!
After 4 consecutive wins over South Africa, UAE, Zimbabwe and Ireland, Pakistan have managed their 3rd place in the Pool B`with 8 points.
According to the tournament officials, the third placed team of a group meets the 2nd position’s side of another group, Where Pakistan to meet Australia at Adelaide Oval, Australia.
The day started with Pakistan good luck, first Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first and Misbah was hoping to set the target of 270+ but later on the mistakes were repeated, Pakistan kept loosing wickets from start of the inning which brought them a small total of 213 run in 50 overs.
Akmal made similar mistake and got out of the bad shot attempted, than the awaited Man Afridi came down and started hitting sixes, fours, twos and singles, but again Afridi made the same mistake which he did many times in his 398 ODI’s
Fans hoped that the Afridi’s last World Cup match will leave some exciting memories and fortunately Afridi got the chance to deliver it when 5 wickets down in 33 overs and the two big hitters was on the crease Shahid Afridi and Sohaib Maqsood. If both the hitters stayed till the 40th over of innings when 5 overs of Powerplay left then the score should have been over 250+ and the results might be different.
If we talk about the fielding, in the 2nd innings when Australia needed to win 214 runs in 50 Overs at the Oval Cricket Ground. Pakistan attacked strongly to the opposition and got the Finch’s important wicket by Sohail Khan and then the bowlers pumped up, the momentum was coming to Pakistan, Australia kept loosing wickets 59-3.
Wahab Riaz got two more wickets of David Warner and Michael Clark, both the deliveries were short pitch and the batsman didn’t manage to play it ground.
The pressure increased on Australia, Wahab was in the mod to take one more wicket of Shane Watson, everything was going according to the plan when Watson attempted a short pitch delivery and hooked, the ball was in air towards the fine leg and fielder Rahat Ali dropped the important catch of Watson which brought people’s moral down and then Watson made his WC 50 and made Australia win.
In cricket, yes ‘Catches’ make you win..
If you will start to drop the catch so be prepared for your lost…
