KARACHI- Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed Karachi police to ensure urgent finalization of a security plan for forthcoming by-elections in NA- 246.
Chairing a meeting at Central Police Office (CPO) Tuesday he also directed the Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi, Ghulam Qadir Thebo to see that the security plan is developed and also executed in close coordination with Sindh Rangers and Sindh Election Commission.
Officials present on the occasion extensively reviewed the preliminary security plan prepared for bye-polls and under which a sizable number of police personnel would be deployed, including five senior superintendent police (SSPs), nine deputy superintendent police (DSPs) and 18 inspectors would be deployed, alongwith their sub-ordinates, in the area.
The meeting was told that 55 buildings have also been identified for roof top deployment and that bullet proof vehicles would be placed at identified flash points.
Moreover, anti-riot platoons equipped with anti-riot kits would remain on standby at the convenient and nearest places.
IG – Sindh on the occasion directed the officials to also undergo a security rehearsal well before the deployment of police personnel and that a meeting of cops and concerned official must also be convened prior to the rehearsal itself.
This is to sensitize them about their responsibilities and no lapse may take place at any level, said Ghulam Haider Jamali urging AIG – Karachi to also ensure deployment of adequately trained and briefed women police personnel at the NA 246 constituency.
