ISLAMABAD: Researchers at a knowledge-based company has developed a mouthwash using satureja.
The product called Orthodentol is an antiseptic solution intended to reduce the microbial load in the oral cavity, Iran Daily reported.
The mouthwash also has antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties and keeps teeth clean and breath fresh.
Those who wear braces have a higher risk of getting plaque formed around the brackets. As a result, it can cause tooth decay.
Some of the patients when they take off the braces are left with white squares on their teeth. That’s why, along with brushing teeth and flossing, an important part of oral care routine should be oral rinsing.
Known as mourd in Persian, satureja is a genus of aromatic plants of the family Lamiaceae, related to rosemary and thyme.
Several species are cultivated as culinary herbs and they have become established in the wild in a few places.
