English Commentator March Nicolas on Sunday was hosting a closing ceremony of the Cricket World Cup 2015 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
While presenting a tribute to the players who had already announced their retirement after WC 2015 campaign, he mentioned all the names of recent retired cricketers i-e: Michael Clark, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardne, Daniel Vettori, and the Zimbabvian Brandon Taylor but he did not mention the name of the two Pakistani legendary cricketers Shahid Afridi and Misbah-ul-Haq.
On Marc’s speech, Pakistani fans criticized as he did not acknowledge Pakistani players. Fans expressed their emotions and feelings on tweets which forced Nicolas to say something about criticism on him.
Quoting Marc’s tweet,
“I take great offence that I missed out Misbah and Afridi intentionally. Afridi is a good friend for many years. Others retired too.”
“Be hard as you like for my reading the script as given but don’t call me racist, Malcolm Marshall was my best friend. Salute Misbah & Afridi”
According to Marc Nicolas, the mistake was being made by the script writers who did not mention their names on it.
