ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis Foundation has facilitated 176 stranded Overseas Pakistanis, who arrived at Islamabad airport by a special flight of PIA which was sent to Yemen on special directives of the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
OPF provided free transportation facility to stranded Overseas Pakistanis at Islamabad airport and they were also provided with fare to reach their homes at Lahore, Fasail Abad, Peshawar, Jhang, Mansehra, Liha and other places,said a press release issued here on Friday.
All the agencies involved in the process including OPF, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, PIA, FIA (Immigration and Passport Cell), Civil Aviation Authority and Customs, made excellent arrangements at Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad to provide maximum assistance and help in efficient manner for their safe return to their home towns.
These returnees were warmly welcomed and received by the Federal Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Civil Aviation, Shujat Azem, Managing Director OPF Habib Ur Rehman Khan, Chairman PIA and other senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, OPF, FIA and other relevant departments.
Later on these returnee Overseas Pakistanis were presented flowers and bouquet by MD, OPF, Habib Ur Rehman Khan who had specially flown to Karachi to receive the Overseas Pakistanis who arrived by the first special flight of PIA carrying over 500 Overseas Pakistanis.
After their arrival at Islamabad Airport, these returnee Overseas Pakistanis were overwhelmed with joy by the treatment they received during their rescue and evacuation by all the concerned departments including Ministry of Foreign Affairs, OPF, PIA and other relevant departments.
All the passengers paid their special thanks and compliments to the Prime Minister of Pakistan for issuing timely directives to all the departments and for arranging special flights of PIA for their safe evacuation from Yemen.
The stranded Overseas Pakistanis appreciated the efforts of the Government of Pakistan and OPF to help them in need of the hour and made excellent arrangements for their reception.
They acknowledged the services of OPF staff and officers to provide them assistance.
Talking on this occasion, Managing Director, OPF, Habib Ur Rehman Khan said that on the directions of Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Pir Syed Saddarudin Shah Rashdi, OPF made special arrangements to receive these returnee Overseas Pakistanis.
He said that OPF Facilitation Counters have been strengthened with additional officers and staff to provide special handling to stranded Overseas Pakistanis arriving from Yemen.
He further said that OPF always step forward to help Pakistani expatriates at the time of their need and in case of any natural calamity or any other disturbance, OPF played its due role to help Pakistani diaspora.
He said that OPF will never let them alone in this difficult time and they would be helped by utilizing all resources.
