KARACHI: Five suspected terrorists were killed on Wednesday in an encounter with Rangers in Keamari area of the metropolis, in which two personnel of the paramilitary force also sustained injuries.
According to a Rangers spokesman, the deceased terrorists included the head of a proscribed group, M. Umar alias Fahad/Moon.
Four other suspects were identified as Anis Ahmed alias Saqib, Abdul Rauf alias Bilal, Javed Hasan alias Yaseen and Talha Qaiser alias Imran, he added.
He said the action was taken in Taapu locality of Keamari on Wednesday morning on the tip off about presence of terrorists in the area.
He said terrorists opened fire on Rangers team and injured two personnel of the force.
The rangers retaliated the fire and killed five terrorists. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the possession of the terrorists, he added.
According to rangers spokesman, the terrorists were involved in a suicide attack and firing on a Rangers’ Sector Commander on Feb 14, 2014, as well as firing on police in Landhi and North Karachi and target killings, bank robberies and kidnapping for ransom incidents.
