KARACHI: The Election Commissioner Sindh submitted a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday in which he requested the ECP to position the Rangers in the NA-246 constituency, Aaj News reported.
The by-elections under the watch full eyes of Rangers would ensure a transparent poll process on the polling day (April 23), Said the Election Commissioner Sindh.
The NA-246 was vacated by Nabil Gabol in February, who had some reservations with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).
Imran Ismail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is hopeful to defeat MQM’s candidate Kanwar Naveed for the National Assembly’s seat.
On a related note ECP’s returning officer Nadeem Haider has called upon a meeting of Rangers, Police and district administration to talk about the security scenario on 23 April.
