Steadier trend was seen on the money market on Tuesday as the rupee moved with slight gains versus the dollar in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee inched up by one-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.82 and Rs 101.84 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, gained 10-paisa in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.50 and Rs 102.70 respectively, they said. The rupee, however, dropped by 50-paisa in terms of the euro for buying and selling at Rs 111.50 and Rs 111.70, they said.
In the second Asian trade, the euro hovered near a three-week peak, having pushed higher overnight as the dollar came under broad pressure and on renewed hopes that cash-strapped Greece was a step closer to securing fresh funding.
The dollar awaited US data later in the day which could either hasten its fall against the euro or arrest its decline ahead of the closely-watched two-day Federal Reserve meeting that begins Wednesday. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.48, the greenback was at 3.5535 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.220 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee fell against the greenback on the local currency market on Tuesday.
The dollar resumed trading at its overnight closing of Rs 102.60 and Rs 102.85 as its buying and selling rate and witnessed a slight increase in demand pushing its rate marginally up to Rs 102.65 and Rs 102.90 on buying and selling side.
But the rupee remained under pressure and depreciated its worth against the pound sterling, whose buying and selling rates improved from Monday closing of Rs 154.70 and Rs 155.25 to Rs 155.50 and Rs 155.75.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
