TIMERGARA: By-election in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa seat PK-95 is on the way as of this morning (Thursday), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami National Party (ANP), are expected to have a close competition, Aaj News reported.
This seat was vacated when Sirajul Haq won the election for a seat in Senate. Political Analyst expects a tough competition between Izazul Mulk Afkari of the JI and Bahadur Khan of ANP.
Both JI and ANP have a strong vote bank in the constituency but the vote bank of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) might play a deciding role in the result. PTI is supporting the candidate of JI.
The election commission has formed 179 polling booths for the 86,926 registered male voters and 85 booths for the 53,817 female voters in the constituency. Around 2,300 policemen are performing the duty.
A victory in the by-polls can paved a way for the revival of ANP who suffered a devastating defeat in the 2013 general election.
JI on the other hand wants to retain the seat as the constituency is in the hometown of Senator Sirajul Haq, chief of JI.
