WEB DESK: Amir Khan’s PK has hit the Rs200 crore mark outside India, Indian newspapers reported.
The movie where Khan plays the role of an alien from outer space who questions the existence of God, has beaten Dhoom 3 which collected 170 crore abroad.
PK broke the following records;
- Highest grossing Indian film internationally with a box office of $33 million (Rs 210 crore) and counting
- Widest international release for an Indian film with a release across 5,400 screens with many more countries yet to release
- Highest grossing Indian movie ever in North America and the first Indian film to cross the $10 million mark with a box office of $10.6 million (Rs 68 crore)
- Highest grossing Indian film in China with a box office collection of $5.2 million (Rs 34 crore) in the first weekend
The film has been co-produced by Hirani, in association with UTV who distributed the film worldwide, as well.
PK is now the highest grossing movie of all time in Bollywood with a net collection of Rs 340 crore . With this, Khan has becomes the most successful Indian actor in the foreign market with not one, but three movies in the top five overseas grosser from Bollywood.
Even if we calculate only the Indian theatrical business, the film has returned back the makers an investment of 385 per cent.
