KABUL: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif received a warm reception when he arrived here on a day-long visit to the Afghan capital to hold talks with the Afghan leaders.
Prime Minister Sharif who is heading a high level delegation including the Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif was warmly received by Afghan President Ashraf Ghani at the Presidential Palace.
National anthems of the two countries were played and a guard of honour was presented by a contingent of the Afghan Army. The two leaders introduced members of their respective delegations.
Earlier the Prime Minister was warmly received at the airport by Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, Minister of Finance Eklil Ahmad Hakimi and Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan Syed Abrar Hussain.
The Prime Minister’s delegation comprises Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi, DG Inter Services Intelligence Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and senior officials.
The Prime Minister later along with members of his delegation proceeded for a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani that would be followed by a meeting with Afghan Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
