The rupee, somehow managed to keep its overnight levels against the dollar on the money market on Friday, dealers said. The rupee one-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.75 and Rs 101.77 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: While, the rupee was unmoved in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.40 and Rs 102.60 respectively, they said. The rupee inched up by 10-paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 114.50 and Rs 114.75 respectively, they said.
In the fourth Asian trade, major currencies stuck to recent ranges ahead of US jobs report later, but sterling seized the spotlight and rallied to its highest in just over a week on expectations that British Prime Minister David Cameron’s Conservatives will stay in office.
The Conservatives are set to govern Britain for another five years although they may fall just short of holding an outright majority, an exit poll showed, a result likely to trigger an in-out referendum on European Union membership within two years, while Scots could soon be pressing for independence again. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.97, the greenback was at 3.5935 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.2074 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee remained stable and stayed unchanged amid dull trading activity on the local currency market on Friday.
According to currency dealers, the dollar commenced trading at its Thursday closing of Rs 102.50 and Rs 102.75 on buying and selling side, respectively. The dollar did not observe any change in its demand and supply situation during the day. As a result, the dollar’s rate ended at its opening level, the dealers said.
However, the local currency failed to maintain its day earlier position and remained under pressure against the pound sterling. The pound’s buying and selling rate improved from the overnight closing of Rs 155.30 and Rs 155.55 to Rs 156.90 and Rs 157.20, respectively, they added.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling). Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
