Marginal changes were seen on the money market on Wednesday in the process of trading, dealers said. The rupee showed no change in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.90 and Rs 101.92 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee managed to recover 10-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.80 and Rs 103.00 respectively, and it also gained further 75-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 114.25 and Rs 114.50, they added.
In the third Asian trade, the dollar hit a two-month high against the yen, staying on firm footing after strong US housing data the previous day offered hopeful signs for the US economy’s second-quarter growth.
The dollar rose as high as 120.93 yen as of 0050 GMT, its highest level since March 20. The dollar was last up 0.2 percent on the day at 120.90 yen. The dollar was available against the Indian rupee at 63.75, the greenback was at 3.6090 and the US currency was at 6.2044 in terms of the Chinese yuan. RUPEE IN LAHORE: The national currency staged recovery and appreciated its worth against the major currencies, including the dollar and the pound sterling on the local currency market on Wednesday.
The dollar resumed trading on a depressed note and remained under selling pressure and ended lower at Rs 102.95 and Rs 103.20 for the buying and selling rate against the overnight closing of Rs 103.05 and Rs 103.30.
The rupee remained strong and improved against the pound sterling which was traded at Rs 158.50 and Rs 158.75 on buying and selling counter compared with the Tuesday closing of Rs 160.00 and Rs 160.25.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
