WEB DESK: Third and final one day international between Zimbabwe and Pakistan will take place on May 31 as scheduled despite the suicide attack near Gaddafi stadium, Lahore.
Zimbabwean board officials had a brief meeting with the Pakistan cricket board officials and security personnel before they decided to go with the schedule. The guests however, cancelled their plan to go shopping in the city, Espncricinfo reported.
The tour will go as planned and Zimbabwe will play the third and final match on Sunday May 31 at Gaddafi stadium, Lahore before flying back home on Monday.
The blast that occurred during the second ODI, was first reported as a transformer blast by police. Ameen Vais, the Capital City Police Officer, had also earlier informed that it was a minor transformer blast, in an effort to avoid any panic.
Pervaiz Rashid, Information Minister later confirmed the news as a suicide blast, a sub-inspector and a civilian was killed.
Security forces cordoned off the area within 30 minutes and arrested eight suspects.
