ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali on Thursday informed the Senate that there exists a uniformed power tariff policy and in case of any difference, it is paid by government.
It is National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) determines the tariff after holding a public hearing and in presence of all stakeholders, he was responding to a Calling Attention Notice in the House.
The Notice was moved by Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour regarding disparity in rates of electricity being charged by Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) from people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in comparison to Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO).
Abid Sher Ali said probably there would an issue of billing but no disparity.
Senator Bilour said the power incentives given to KPK were being withdrawn and added there is also not an issue power theft in Hayatabad and University Town.
