KARACHI: A fast ferry cargo service from Pakistan to UAE will soon be initiated by Ports and Shipping, Local media reported.
According to the reports, the Ministry of Ports and Shipping is studying a proposal to launch this ferry service for pilgrims. The service will be provided to the pilgrims going from Karachi to Iran and Iraq for ziarat.
Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Senator Kamran Michael chaired a meeting in which the plans came under discussion regarding the fast ferry cargo service from Pakistan to UAE.
The minister termed this service as a national cause, adding that the government was keen to start the ferry service for pilgrims.
The ferry service will be cheaper for people visiting holy places in Iran and Iraq than air travel, he added.
The Minister invited the private sector as well to participate in such ventures.
Director General Ports and Shipping Arif Elahi and other high officials of the ministry also attended the meeting.
