The rupee moved both ways against the dollar on the money market on Thursday in the process of trading, they said. The rupee posted fresh gain of eight-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.80 and Rs 101.82 respectively, they said.
INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee, however, shed five-paisa versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.80 and Rs 103.00 respectively, they said.
The rupee recovered 15-paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.50 and Rs 116.50 respectively, they added. In the fourth Asian trade, the yen edged back down after earlier rallying on remarks by the Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda, while the New Zealand dollar plunged after a surprise interest rate cut.
The dollar last traded at 123.05 yen, up about 0.3 percent from Wednesday. The dollar had tumbled 1.3 percent on Wednesday – its biggest one-day fall in six months-as investors unwound yen-short positions following Kuroda’s comment that the yen was already “very weak.”

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee recovered its day earlier loss and gained five-paisa against the dollar declining in its demand.
The dollar’s buying and selling rates slightly fell from the Wednesday closing of Rs 102.65 and Rs 102.90 to Rs 102.60 and Rs 102.8 though the rupee kept going up against the pound sterling for the fourth consecutive day.
The pound was traded at Rs 158.75 and Rs 159.00 on buying and selling counter compared with the overnight closing of Rs 157.75 and Rs 158.00.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Thursday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
