A range-bound trading was witnessed on the money market on Wednesday in the process of trading, they said. The rupee managed to gain two-paisa in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.88 and Rs 101.90 respectively, they said.
INTERBANK MARKET RATES: OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee held the last levels against the dollar for buying at Rs 102.75 and for selling at Rs 102.95, the said.
The rupee, however, shed 15-paisa in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 115.65 and Rs 116.65, they added. In the third Asian trade, the yen shot up against the dollar on Wednesday, reaching a two-week high, after Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said the real effective exchange rate shows the Japanese currency is “very weak.”
The dollar fell as low as 122.77 yen, its lowest since May 27, and was last down 1.4 percent on the day at 122.97, far below its session high of 124.63 in early afternoon in Tokyo. The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.88, the greenback was at 3.7350 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.205 versus the Chinese yuan. RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee remained weak and lost five paisas against the greenback on the local currency market on Wednesday.
The dollar resumed trading at its day earlier closing of Rs 102.60 and Rs 102.85 as its buying and selling rate, respectively. Because of slight increase in the dollar’s demand, its rate marginally improved to Rs 102.65 and Rs 102.90 on buying and selling side. The rupee also remained under pressure for the third day and depreciated its worth against the pound sterling whose buying and selling rate improved form the Tuesday closing of Rs 157.00 and Rs 157.25 to Rs 157.75 and Rs 158.00.
RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged on the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.
The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).
Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
