KARACHI: Two more died from dengue as officials from provincial dengue control and prevention programme confirmed the reports on Tuesday, locla media reported.
Yawar, 28 year old male from Qayyumabad died on June 11 but the cause of his death was confirmed on yesterday. He was admitted to a hospital in unstable condition.
Hina Faisal, 30 year old female victim was admitted to the same hospital two weeks ago and was announced dead on June 7.
Earlier a boy from Orangi, who was 10 years old died at a private hospital on May 25.
Around 544 dengue cases have been reported in Sindh for this year out of which 525 have been reported from Karachi, Hyderabad is won the second place with 11 cases. Last year more than 1, 295 cases of dengue fever were recorded from Sindh out of which 1, 277 belonged to Karachi. At least 17 were died because of this disease.
In year 2013 more than 6, 000 dengue patients were reported out of which 32 died.
North Nazimabad, SITE, Clifton, Cantonment, Saddar Town, North Karachi are being identified as defenseless areas against dengue virus.
According to official figures first case of dengue was reported in 1994 when 145 confirmed patients made it to the record list. Out of these 145 cases only one died.
After almost 11 year of gap the disease reappear in 2005. 258 cases were recorded in that year of which 11 people lost their lives.
The year 2006 proved to be the deadliest as 49 people died out of 1, 500 cases. In the following two years (2007-08) 20 people died out of 931 cases.
Since 2009 to this very day out of 12, 000 confirmed cases 94 have died.
