WEB DESK: The summers are exhausting. After a long day to and from work and cooking in the kitchen– having good nights sleep is what we all look forward to.
But what when the power breaks down? How can you bear the heat without a fan running on your head? Here are 5 ways you can cool off your body.
Bed sheets made of lightweight cotton are much more breathable than polyester. They make the warm nights cooler, while still giving you the comfort.
Stuffing your face with spicy biryani just before you go to bed is never a good idea, in the summer especially. A light salad, a bowl of yogurt or lassi or fruit makes a good meal. The more food your body has to metabolise, the more your temperature is likely to rise.
Take a shower
Our body sleeps better when the temperature is cool. Take a shower just before you go to bed. Our head stores the most heat, so sleeping with damp hair will help you– even if it give you frizzy hair the next day.
Sleep with damp clothes
Wear a wet t-shirt to sleep, or cover yourself with a wet bedsheet, towel or cloth. Opening a window and hanging a wet sheet in front of the interior will reduce the temperature of the whole room.
Sleep on the floor
It’s common knowledge that hot air rises. The floor will always be cooler than the bed. So sleep on the bare floor.
If the its airy, chose to sleep outdoors in the balcony or rooftop. You might wake up early because of the sun blaring on your head but the night will be cool.
