ISLAMABAD: Crime in Karachi has gone down drastically following the operation, said Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar, while giving a presentation in the National Assembly.
Nisar said that extortion, theft, robbery, kidnapping for ransom had refuced in the city. “The targeted operation in Karachi has made it a peaceful city,” he said.
Sharing statistical data from the operation he said that target killing had reduced by 39 percent, murder had reduced by 35 percent, terrorism had reduced by 6.7 percent and robberies had reduce by 31 percent.
He said that 580603 people have arrested so far. Of them 630 wanted criminals while 9570 criminals at large were arrested.
He also gave details of nationals of five countries who have are living in Pakistan. Of them the largest numbers of people are from Aghanistan. Pakistan is hosting over 116300 Afghan refugees.
