KARACHI: Electricity was restored through out the city after 16 hours, Aaj News reported.
Citizens remained deprived of electricity through out the night after the Bin Qasim Power Plant tripped.
As electricity was disrupted in pumping stations the city suffered a shortage of 525 million gallons of water.
Due to absence of electricity a large number of citizens reached their offices late. Patients at hospitals remained affected and activity at the airport also suffered.
“A 220 KV transmission line malfunctioned after a conductor on a power pylon broke down. As a result Bin Qasim Power Plants tripped offline,” a spokesman for K-Electric, Karachi’s main power utility said. “There was a big blast after which transmission to lines in the city were disrupted.” said a spokesperson for K-Electric.
