Rescue work at the crash site is still going on.
This special train carrying military men and their families was traveling from from Panu Aqil Chaoni to Kharian when the train over turned at a bridge over the lower Chenab river.
Eye witnesses say that there was blast in the train and then four bogies of the train fell into the river.
Over 300 passengers were traveling in the train.
The blast was so loud that people from nearby localities gathered at the site, said an eye witness. “A short while later police and rescue teams reached the site,” he said.
The depth of the river, according to locals, is at least 25 feet.
The footage of the train accident shows that the engine has been destroyed, and four bogies of the train have immersed in the water below.
According to an ISPR spokesperson four bogies of the train had military men.

GUJRANWALA: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has said the investigation is in progress to ascertain facts behind the train accident and final report of the accident will be compiled within 72 hours.
He was talking to the media at the site of the accident near Gujranwala on Thursday.
The initial investigation report of the accident will be made available till tonight, he said adding, nothing can be said till getting the final report.
He said Pakistan train had crossed the bridge an hour before the accident.
He said condition of the bridges of railways was checked four times a year.
He said the driver of the train was still missing and nothing could be said about him yet.

GUJRANWALA: As many as 13 people have died when four bogies of a special train carrying Pakistan military troops and their families to Kharian fell into a canal near Jamke Chattha in Gujranwala, Aaj News reported.
According to the reports, two of the passenger bogies as well as the engine compartment fell as a bridge collapsed, derailing the train.
A rescue operation is underway, the ISPR stated.
In the accident, several people are reportedly injured. The train was on its way to Kharian from Pano Aqil when the bridge collapsed.
