KARACHI: Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed the Additional IG Karachi and all DIGs to employ all available resources to control law & order and quickly respond during rain and flood situation across Sindh province.
The Sindh Police Chief has issued these directives in view of heavy rain forecast by the Met Office, said a statement on Monday.
He has also canceled the leaves of all police personnel with the directives for them to immediately report to their concerned police stations and headquarters.
Ghulam Haider Jamali strictly directed all the supervisory officials including SSPs, DSPs and SHOs that no area and police station be left vacant.
The IGP Sindh has directed to make special arrangements for patrolling in all the high risk zones including areas situated nearby canals across Sindh which are likely to be affected by rain and flood.
He has asked to develop coordination with all the concerned departments participating in relief, rescue and restoration activities including the Met Office, Irrigation Departments, district administrations as well as the concerned units of Pakistan Army and Rangers.
He said that special arrangements be made to keep in touch with public so as to collect timely information regarding emergency situation with regard to rain and flood.
He has directed that the Police Hospitals at Karachi, Hyderabad and Thatta be also contacted to establish medical camps by the Sindh Police Department in far flung areas.
The Sindh Police Chief said all possible steps be taken to control law and order situation.
He further directed to make arrangements to inform the Central Police Office on AIG Operation Rooms no: 021-99213081, 021-99212065, 021-99212064 or fax no: 021-99213836 regarding police activities to facilitate the masses during rain and flood.
He observed that the orders regarding arrangements by the Sindh Police during rain emergency be complied in its spirit.
