KARACHI: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali, has lauded the performance of the police especially during the month of Ramzan.
He was presiding over a meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) here on Tuesday.
The IGP appreciated the performance of the police in discharging professional duties in collaboration with the law enforcement agencies.
He directed that the on-going drive against absconders and proclaimed offenders be further intensified in a coordinated manner.
The IGP asked SSPs to issue special directives to their subordinates and evaluate their performance on daily basis. No dereliction would be tolerated and action in such a case would be initiated against the concerned SSP of the district as well as SDPO and SHO.
The meeting was informed that during the month of Ramzan 113 gangs of criminals were eliminated and 176 accused were nabbed on the spot while 803 other accused were also arrested.
In addition, 3,099 absconders and 462 proclaimed offenders were also arrested.
In various encounters with the police, 42 accused/dacoits were killed.
As many as 64 hand grenades, 56 kalashinkoves, 93 shotguns, 912 pistols/revolvers, 19 rifles and bullets were recovered from the arrested accused.
