KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui visited various part of the city after rain on the night intervening Tuesday and Wednesday to review and inspect the situation.
During the visit he took stern notice of the power breakdown right after the rain started in the city, said a statement on Wednesday.
He went to the complaint cell of K-Electric at Tipu Sultan Road where the citizens informed that the window for registering complaints was closed down and there was no one to listen to them.
The Administrator expressed annoyance and directed to K-Electric staff to immediately open the window and start registering complaints regarding power breakdown in the area.
He stayed there for 20 minutes and talked to the higher authority of K-Electric after which the electricity started restoring in different areas.
The Administrator paid a visit of Malir Kala Board to check the dewatering works in the area after rain where the municipal staff cleared all rain water on immediate basis.
Speaking in a meeting held in the Commissioner office he said rain emergency will be in place in municipal organizations.
He directed to the deputy commissioners to monitor the performance of civic bodies and save the citizens from inconvenience during rainy season.
The meeting was attended by all deputy commissioners and representatives of KMC, DMCs, Cantonment Board, Civil Aviation Authority, KW&SB and other civic bodies.
The Administrator on this occasion said the Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui will monitor the drain cleaning work being carried out by KMC.
It was decided that all civic bodies will nominate their focal person who would remain in contact with the complaint centre of Commissioner Office.
