KARACHI: Treating animals with love is outdated now; treating animals with guns is a new idea that has been taken up by the government authorities of the city.
Earlier this week, SSP Fida Hussain’s police guard shot Zehra Abid’s pet dog on leash for barking at the SSP’s pet peacock. Upon retaliation she was mocked by the guard saying ‘she can do whatever she can’. As Abid had no idea if she could file a complaint against this inhuman act, she took her grief to Twitter.
Previously stories of ruthless killing of stray dogs’ campaign by shooting them circulated around the city that caused uproar against the Sindh government’s treatment of animals in the city.
PAWS Pakistan is a welfare organization that creates awareness about animal rights in Pakistan. It stated on Twitter that Pakistan has no animal welfare board to fight for the right of animals.
