LAHORE: Renowned urdu novelist and script writer, Abdullah Hussain passed away in Lahore this morning, Aaj News reported.
Abdullah Hussain was suffering from blood cancer for the last one year.
The family has not decided the time and place of the funeral yet.
Abdullah Hussain had been nominated for “Kamal-e-Fun” award for 2012. “Kamal-e-Fun” is the highest literary award of Pakistan, given for lifetime achievement in creative work. It carries cash prize of Rs500,000.
His novel “Udas Naslain” became popular both in Urdu & English languages.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of renowned Urdu writer and novelist Abdullah Hussain who passed away in Lahore this morning.
In his message to the bereaved family, the Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences while lauding the services rendered by him for promotion of the national language and enrichment of Urdu literature.
He described his death as a loss to the nation especially the literary circles, according to a PM House statement.
The Prime Minister prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant patience to the family to bear this loss.
